Book review: Exile (The Legend of Drizzt Book 2)

This book was written by R.A. Salvatore, a writer which is quite famous and outstanding. Check out the book because it was the continuation from the first book, Homeland. I would post a review about the first book later. Well, in this book, the hero, Drizzt, continues his journey in the underworld accompanied by his only friend, Guenhwyvar. Drizzt was pursued by his sister and his brother, who vowed to take him back alive or dead in order to please the Spider Queen, Lolth.

In the dark world, Dritzzt , manage to elude his brother and sister using his advantage in combat and his companion. However, the more he spend his time alone, the more his instinct turns him into a savage monster who only kill to eat and to protect his territory which include the feeding ground for his cattle. It was not long before Drizzt learn about his neighbor, the svirfnebli. Well, I could say that I pitied Drizzt very much coz he was so lonely and so desperate to find companion which he could talk to and the most important thing is for him to not feeling alone in the cruel world. Imagine yourself in Drizzt shoe, alone in the dark underworld, where your only companion is a panther which you could only summons for a few hours per day.

When Drizzt saw the svirfnebli, he was struggling with his inner self because some part of him wants to be found by those svirfnebli simply because he wants to redeemed his doing to the svirfnebli race in the first book, Homeland, where he helps the drow's patrol group to eliminate the svirfnebli's mining group. Well, it is an interesting book actually. So if any of you out there who wants to read something extraordinary to kill some time, I recommend this book to you and I won't be surprise if you will want to read the third book, Soujurn.
